Error 1334: Error Installing C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\TurboTax

Error 1334 occurs when attempting to uninstall or repair TurboTax. You'll see additional messaging similar to:

ApplicationController: MSI Install Exception occurred: MS installer error 1334

(The exact wording in the message may vary, but "error 1334" is constant.)

Solution

To resolve this error, forcefully uninstall and reinstall TurboTax.

If error 1334 persists, try this:

  1. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft's web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.
  2. Use the CleanUp Utility to remove entries that begin with (All Users) TurboTax 2009 (or TurboTax 2008).
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Reinstall TurboTax by following the steps in the Installer Tool Download article.
