Installation Stops at "Installing video decoder"

When installing TurboTax, the installation program appears to stop or freeze when the following message is displayed:

Installing video decoder

The following message may appear also:

Cannot install video decoder

Follow theses steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Temporarily disable your virus-detection and firewall software.
  2. Press Ctrl+ Alt+ Delete to access the Windows Task Manager.
  3. If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, select the Processes tab.
  4. Find and select decoder_setup.exe.
  5. Select End Process (or End Task).
  6. If TurboTax installation program does not resume, repeat Steps 5 and 6 as necessary.
