Error 11002:2,-45: The file is locked

This message appears when using One-click Updates in TurboTax Basic 2005:

11002:2,-45 The file is locked

This message appears when opening TurboTax after updating:

The application TurboTax has unexpectedly quit

Locked files on some of the TurboTax Basic 2005 CDs are preventing TurboTax from updating. The version number on these CDs is either 05.00R or 05.00D.

To resolve this issue, download Locker, a free program that unlocks files on Mac OS X 10.1 or later:

Note: You do not need to uninstall TurboTax.

  1. Close TurboTax.
  2. Click here to download Locker to your desktop.
  3. After the download is completed, double-click locker.dmg on your desktop.
  4. From the Locker window, drag the lock icon into the Applications folder on your hard disk.
  5. In the Applications window, drag the TurboTax 2005 checkmark icon over the Locker icon, and then release the mouse.
  6. In the new window, select Apply for all items in the path (the path will be something like /Users/[username ]/Desktop/TurboTax 2005.app).
  7. Select Unlock.
    Note: It may appear as if nothing is happening, but the program is working.
  8. Close all open windows and programs.
  9. Start TurboTax, and then select One-click Updates.
