Download State (Windows)
Follow the steps below to download a state product for your TurboTax software.
Note: If you're using TurboTax Online 2007, click here.
Note: Instead of downloading your state product in TurboTax, you can install your state using the TurboTax state CD. This option may be preferable If you have a slow or no Internet connection. If your TurboTax product (Basic, Premier, Deluxe, Home & Business) includes a free state, you won't be charged for the first state you install using the state CD. To order the state CD, call us toll-free at (800) 624-8384.
- Launch TurboTax, and then start (or continue) your federal return.
Important: You must install a TurboTax federal product (i.e., TurboTax Basic, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business, or Business) before you can install a TurboTax state product. -
In TurboTax for Windows, on the menu at the top of the screen, select Online, and then Download State.

When prompted to save your tax information, click Save Now.
- Choose your state product(s), and then click Continue.
Note: If the Continue button is missing, you may need to temporarily adjust your font settings or your high-contrast setting before you can download your state.

To purchase your state product, click Buy online or Buy by phone, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If your state is free or if you've already purchased your state, click the I've already purchased this link, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Click Download & Install State.TurboTax checks for updates, and then it downloads and installs your state. (If you have problems downloading, try these troubleshooting steps.)

When installation is complete, click Launch TurboTax.
Note: To purchase and download another state product, follow the steps above.
Note: To reinstall your state, follow the steps above. You will not be charged for reinstalling your free or purchased state.
Note: To order the TurboTax state CD, call us toll-free at (800) 624-8384. You can purchase and install as many states as you need using the state CD.
