Download TurboTax State (Windows)

You can either download TurboTax State software from inside TurboTax or by going directly to our online store.

Download from inside TurboTax

To get the free State product included with the Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business versions of TurboTax, follow these steps:

  1. Open TurboTax, and then start or continue your federal tax return.
  2. From the Online menu, choose Download State.
  3. Click OK when prompted to save your tax return.
  4. Choose your state(s), and then click Continue at the bottom of the window.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish downloading and installing your state.

Purchase and download from our Online store

You can also purchase additional state programs by going directly to our online store:

http://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/state.jsp

  1. Add the state(s) to your cart and check out to complete the purchase. The state(s) will be added to the My Downloads area in your online account.
  2. Save the download to your desktop or another location on your computer. 
  3. When you are ready to install the state, close TurboTax and then double-click the saved file to install your state(s).

You can download your state program as often as needed, for up to 3 years from the date of purchase.
