Error: "Importing error response from [employer] ..." When Importing Form W-2

This message appears when attempting to import Form W-2 in the EasyStep Interview. In the message, [employer] is replaced by a company name.

Importing error response from [employer]: user not authorized for application.

Possible Cause and Solution

This message occurs because your W-2 form is not available for download. The message comes from the payroll provider that generates the W-2 form, not TurboTax.

You'll either need to contact your employer to request that your Form W-2 be made available for download, or manually enter your Form W-2 data.
