Import into TurboTax Desktop (Personal)
You can import tax information from Quicken, QuickBooks, and other financial sources into the desktop version of TurboTax, which saves time and reduces the chance for errors.
| Note: See Importing into TurboTax for complete information on what you can and cannot import into TurboTax. If you are importing into TurboTax Business, please refer to the article Import from QuickBooks into TurboTax Business. |
TurboTax prompts you to import information in various places throughout the interview, rather than importing everything at once. This gives you greater control over what is imported into your return.
Import from financial software
Do this before you import from Quicken, QuickBooks, or .txf files into TurboTax:
- If you were planning to transfer last year's tax return as well, make sure to do that before importing.
- Enter all your financial information into your financial software before importing.
- Assign the tax-related items in your financial program to the appropriate tax forms and lines in your return. Refer to your financial program for instructions on how to do this.
- Import any QuickBooks information before you import from Quicken.
- If importing from Quicken or QuickBooks 2007, 2008, or 2009 for Windows:
- Be sure the Quicken or QuickBooks software is installed on the same computer where you'll be using TurboTax.
