Transfer Last Year's Tax Info from Online to Online

You can automatically transfer information from last year's TurboTax Online return to TurboTax Online 2008. For additional info, see Transfer in TurboTax.
Note: Transferring and importing are different procedures. Importing brings information into TurboTax from financial software, such as Quicken or QuickBooks, or from financial institutions, such as your brokerage firm or payroll provider. Import into TurboTax.Transfer from Online to Online
To transfer your TurboTax Online 2007 tax info to TurboTax Online 2008, follow these steps:
- Go to TurboTax Web site and choose your Turbotax Online version (Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, or Home & Business).
- Sign in with the same user ID and password you used for your 2007 tax return.
- On the Welcome Back screen, TurboTax automatically transfers relevant 2007 info to your 2008 tax return.
- After the data is transferred, you can review, edit, or delete information.
What if I don't want to transfer last year's TurboTax Online info?
TurboTax Online automatically transfers last year's data over if you use last year's user ID/password combination, even if you clear your tax return and start over.
The only way to prevent last year's data from transferring to your 2008 tax return is to start over with a new TurboTax Online user ID and password.
Can TurboTax Online transfer a partial return?
In some cases, when you transfer an online return from the prior year, you might see only a partial return is transferred. This is an incomplete return that you started last year with the same user ID and password, but you didn't finish or pay for the return.
Incomplete returns are data files stored temporarily on one of our many TurboTax Online servers. Periodically, we purge these files, but if you happen to transfer before we purge your information, the partial information is transferred. These data files are not archived and are not retrievable by a TurboTax Support.

- You can only transfer information from only one tax return. Information from additional returns must be entered manually.
- You can transfer information from only the prior tax year (e.g., only 2007 tax information can be transferred to TurboTax 2008).
- You cannot transfer information after you've paid for your tax return. Once you've paid, we assume that you're finished and ready to file.
- Information cannot be transferred from a personal tax return to a business tax return (or vice versa).
- You cannot transfer information from last year's Tax Freedom tax return.
