or

Possible Cause and Solution

This error can occur if the User Account Control (UAC) is turned off. To turn this option on:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off. Click Continue if asked for permission to continue.
  3. Select the checkbox Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and click OK. Close Control Panel.
  4. Restart your computer, restart TurboTax, and then try importing your QuickBooks data again.

If this does not resolve the issue, close TurboTax and reopen it using the desktop icon or through the Start menu, as opposed to right-clicking the icon and choosing Run as administrator. In some cases, running TurboTax with administrator privileges can cause the error to occur.

If the problem persists despite following the steps above, close all programs, then uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks.

1. Close all open programs.
2. Select Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.
3. Select QuickBooks.
4. Click on the Change/Remove button.  This will open the maintenance Wizard.
