Where to Enter Data from Forms 1098 and 1099

Search for where to enter data

If you've reviewed the table above and still don't know where to enter your tax information, we have a tool that allows you to search for the type of information you want to enter, and then we take you directly to the place in the TurboTax Interview where you can enter it. Here's how:

  1. With your return open, select Search Topics or Forms on the upper-middle portion of your screen. The Search Topics or Forms screen appears.

  1. Enter what you're looking for in the search field, such as rental expenses, tuition expenses, 1098-T, or simply 1099.
  2. Highlight the item you want to enter, and then select GO. TurboTax takes you to the spot in the Interview where you can enter that information.
  3. Enter your information starting from this screen. You might need to continue through several Interview screens to complete your topic entries.

If you have other questions about entering your 1098 and 1099 information, try accessing our TurboTax Help and Information Center. Here's how:

  1. Open your tax return.
  2. In the Get Answers section on the left side of any screen, select Using TurboTax, and then select How To Use TurboTax.
  3. The TurboTax Help & Info Center screen appears. In the gray bar at the top of the screen, notice the Ask a question... search field.
  4. Enter the topic you want to learn about in the search field, and then select the Ask button. Select any topic from the list to learn more.
