How Do I Pay My Estimated Taxes Electronically?

This article describes how to perform the following tasks using TurboTax Estimated Taxes, an online product that is separate from TurboTax.

TurboTax can create quarterly payment vouchers that you mail in with your estimated payment, but it does not support electronic payment of estimated taxes.

Set up your Estimated Taxes account for electronic payments

Note: Due to IRS procedures, it might take up to three business days to set up your TurboTax Estimated Taxes account for electronic enrollment.

If you're an existing TurboTax Estimated Taxes customer, take the following steps:

  1. Select My Account at the top of the screen.
  2. Under E-file information, select Go Now.
  3. Enter your account type, routing number, account number, and bank name. Select Continue.
  4. On the "Account Summary" screen, read the Certification and Authorization paragraphs, and then enter a PIN number and your mother's maiden name.

Note: This information is necessary to confirm that you have authorized Intuit to make your estimated tax payments.

  1. Select Continue to return to the "My Account" screen.

  • The voucher is in pending status 2 business days before the payment date. You cannot edit or cancel the voucher when its status is pending.
  • On the payment date, the voucher is in submitted status. The voucher remains in submitted status for 10 business days to ensure the IRS receives all documentation. You cannot edit or cancel the voucher when its status is submitted.
  • Once receipt of documentation is verified, the voucher is in e-filed status. You cannot edit or cancel the voucher when its status is e-filed.
