Error: "File or directory busy" When E-filing

This message occurs when e-filing your tax return and is often caused by your anti-virus scanning software.

To resolve this, try disabling your virus-detection or spyware protection software temporarily while you e-filing your return. Remember to re-enable your security software after you e-file. (See Disable Your Virus-detection Software.)

Note: If you use third-party security software, such as McAfee VirusScan or Norton AntiVirus, refer to your vendor documentation for procedures to enable or disable your security software.
