Error 0104: "Line 7 does not match the W-2" When Checking E-filing Status

You have filed your return electronically and it has been rejected by the IRS with an Error 0104. This is actually a rounding error.

How to resolve this error
  1. Select the Federal Taxes tab, then select Income.
  2. On the Your Income screen, select Wages and Salary then select the Edit button for Wages and Salaries.
  3. On the Your W-2 Summary screen, select the first W-2 in the list, and then select the Edit button.
  4. In Box 1 - Wages remove the cents and use whole dollar amounts by rounding the each wage amount up or down:
    • If the cents amount is 49 cents or less, then round down
    • If the cents amount is 50 cents or more, then round up

For example, you would round $2,500.45 down to $2,500.00, or you would round $2,500.75 up to $2,501.00.

  1. Select the Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. When you return to the Your W-2 Summary screen, and repeat Steps 4 and 5 to make this correction to all of your W-2s.
  3. Run the Error Check, and then transmit the return again. TurboTax does not charge you again to transmit the same return.

If you cannot make the corrections, print your return and file it by mail.

  1. At the top of your screen, select the Print & File tab.
  2. Select File a Return, then select Continue.
  3. Select the File by Mail button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to print your return and file it by mail. See Print and Mail Your Return.
