Ports and Addresses

TurboTax for Win/Mac connects to the Internet to perform tasks such as:

  • Downloading software updates
  • Filing electronically (e-filing)
  • Accessing Live Community and TurboTax Support

To access TurboTax services online, be sure the programs below can connect to the Internet. For specific steps, view the Help for your computer's firewall and other security software.

TurboTax programs access the Internet via HTTP and HTTPS requests on ports 80 and 443.

TurboTax 2008

Windows

  • C:\Program Files\TurboTax\version 2008\32bit\TurboTax.exe (where version is Basic, Deluxe, etc.)
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Update Service\IntuitUpdater.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Update Service\IntuitUpdateService.exe

Mac

  • /Applications/TurboTax version 2008/TurboTax 2008.app (where version is Basic, Deluxe, etc.)

TurboTax 2007 (or Prior)

Windows

  • C:\Program Files\TurboTax\version yyyy\32bit\ttax.exe (where version is Basic, Deluxe, etc., and yyyy is the tax year)
  • C:\Program Files\TurboTax\version yyyy\32bit\updatemgr.exe

Mac

  • /Applications /TurboTax version yyyy/TurboTax yyyy.app (where version is Basic, Deluxe, etc., and yyyy is the tax year)
