Buyer's Guide - If you sold any shares from your employee stock option plan

Sales of stock purchased through an employer's stock purchase plan can be especially challenging to report on your tax return, particularly if the stock you sold was purchased on different dates at different prices. Let TurboTax Premier walk you through your employer stock sales; our Investment Sale Expert will break your employer stock sale down into separate "lots" based on purchase date and amount to make sure your sale shows the correct "cost" for the stock you sold.

In addition, if part of your stock sale was included by your employer in your W-2 (required for certain sales), TurboTax Premier will reconcile that amount with its calculation of your gain and make sure that you're not over-reporting any profit you made on the sale.
