TurboTax and Your Credit or Debit Card Statement

Here's some clarification about charges appearing on your credit card, debit card, or bank statement.

Charges for TurboTax Advantage (Automatic Renewal)

If you're wondering why we're charging your credit card now for your TurboTax Advantage (automatic renewal) order, the truth is - we're not!

When you order a TurboTax product using a credit (or debit) card, we must preauthorize the purchase before completing your order. Preauthorization is standard procedure for card issuers (credit card companies and banks). It means that the credit card company (or bank) "reserves" funds in your account for the amount of the purchase.

Your account is not charged (or debited) until your product is shipped or the product file can be downloaded from the TurboTax site.

"Intuit Software Supply" Charges

Your statement with your TurboTax purchase which might be confusing. When you purchase TurboTax products or services, your credit or debit card statements indicate Intuit Software Supply for authorizations. Intuit, Inc. is the parent company of TurboTax. The Intuit Software Supply only applies to authorizations. You'll see TurboTax for settled charges. Previously, when you purchased TurboTax products or services, your credit card/debit card statement indicated Lacerte for authorizations and TurboTax for settled charges.

Electronic Filing Charges

On your credit card statement, you'll see an item description "INTUIT *TURBOTAX" and a toll free telephone number that indicate your income tax return electronic filing (e-filing) charges. E-filing fees may be also subject to state sales tax.
