How do I know how much mortgage interest I paid last year?

You will usually receive a Form 1098 from your lender showing the amount of mortgage interest you paid during the previous year. If you do not receive this form by January 31st you can contact your lender and request it.

If you have an online account for your mortgage, you may be able to find the information there as well.
