What is W-2 box 14 used for?

Box 14 is a catch-all for miscellaneous information that doesn't have its own dedicated box on the W-2.

Things like union dues, tuition assistance, and after-tax retirement contributions end up in box 14.

Don't worry if box 14 on your W-2 is blank; just skip it.
