What is considered a travel expense for business purposes?
For the purposes of deducting employment expenses, travel expenses are defined as ordinary and necessary expenses of traveling away from home for your business, profession, or job. Some travel expenses that may be deductible are transportation (car, airplane, bus, train, taxi, etc.), baggage and shipping, lodging and meals, dry cleaning and laundry, business calls, and tips related to these expenses. You must keep adequate records of expenses. We will help you add these itemized deductions in the Deductions & Credits section of your federal return.
