A Roth IRA distribution code of T in box 7 on your Form 1099-R means the payer knows you are at least 59 1/2, or that the participant died, or is disabled but does not know if the 5-year holding period requirement is met. The earnings on the distribution are taxed based on your interview answers about the account but not subject to the additional 10% tax (penalty).
