Can I claim one or both of my parents as a dependent?

If your parent does not make more than $3,700 per year in taxable income, is not claimed by anyone else, is a U.S. citizen, resident alien or national or a resident of Canada or Mexico, and you provide more than half of their support then you may be able to claim them as a dependent even if they do not live with you.
