TurboTax needs to connect to the Internet through ports 80 and 443 to perform tasks such as downloading software updates and e-filing.
To access these services, be sure any antivirus or firewall programs on your computer allow the TurboTax programs listed below to access the Internet.

TurboTax Programs that Access the Internet
Your firewall will also need to be configured to allow unrestricted Internet access for specific files. The files you will need to set up in your firewall's exception list are listed below.
(Replace version with Basic, Deluxe, etc. and 20XX with the tax year, e.g. "Deluxe 2011.")
- TurboTax.exe – found in C:/Program Files/TurboTax/version 20XX/32bit
- IntuitUpdater.exe – found in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Intuit/Update Service
- IntuitUpdateService.exe – found in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Intuit/Update Service
In TurboTax for Mac, the file is TurboTax 20XX.app – found in Applications/TurboTax version 20XX.
