How to Update TurboTax

Our downloadable updates provide the latest available tax forms, bug fixes, and enhancements for your TurboTax program. (If you're using TurboTax Online, stop reading – we automatically apply the updates for you!)

Important: It's not possible to "update" or convert a prior-year TurboTax product to a current-year product. Find out why.

To use any TurboTax product, including CD/Download software, you'll need an Internet connection. In the case of the CD/Download product, this is to allow the program to download the required TurboTax updates. We strongly recommend a high-speed broadband connection (cable, DSL, etc.) for the best updating experience.

Instructions

Check for updates any time by opening TurboTax and then selecting Check for Updates from the Online menu (Windows) or the TurboTax menu (Mac).
