How Long Does It Take to Update TurboTax Software?
Although TurboTax update files are quite large, updating TurboTax with a high-speed broadband Internet connection (such as cable or DSL) should only take a few minutes.
On the other hand, updating with a dial-up connection may take several hours, if you're lucky. It's not unusual for dial-up customers to start the update, go to bed, and discover that TurboTax is still updating when they check their computer the next morning. For this reason, we strongly recommend a high-speed Internet connection, due to the large size of the update files.
