I was charged twice.
Your credit card payment is preauthorized a day or so before shipping your order. This payment preauthorization appears on your credit card balance. However, the funds are not actually charged to your credit card account until we ship your order and complete the transaction. The preauthorization should drop after the charge is complete. For more information, refer to Credit and Debit Card Authorization.
Some financial institutions may hold the preauthorization up to 10 business days. If after 10 business days, you still see two charges on your account, please contact your credit card company and request that they release the funds.
If, in fact, TurboTax has charged you twice for your product, we will gladly refund the second charge.
Follow these steps to obtain a refund:
- Have your Order Number handy so our agents can help you!
- Go to our Contact Us page.
- Under Type of Problem, choose Buying & Billing.
- Under Find Your Answers, choose one of these contact options:
- Click on Chat With Us and complete the short form to chat with a TurboTax representative, or
- Click on Call Us and complete the short form. You'll get a phone number on the next screen.
I received two products. Was I charged twice?
If you received two products, it's possible that you were not charged twice. Open both products and compare the color of the CDs. If you received one red CD and one blue CD, you have only been charged once.
- The red CD is a promotional or "Welcome Back" CD. Promotional or red CDs contain software that is not purchased until you try to install it. If you know anyone who would like to use TurboTax, please give them the red CD.
- The blue CD is your product order. Keep this CD. However, if you received two blue CDs, you may have been charged twice. Please review your credit card statement to see if you have two charges for the same order. If you find more than one charge, please request a refund from us.
