Why Does TurboTax Print Estimated Tax Payment Vouchers?

TurboTax automatically prepares and prints estimated tax payment vouchers if you're not withholding enough taxes from your income. We want our TurboTax customers to reduce or eliminate underpayment penalties, and paying quarterly estimated taxes is one way to do that.

However – it is still up to you to decide whether to pay estimated taxes or not. To help you make that decision, see Calculate Federal Estimated Taxes.

Tip: If your income comes mostly from wages and salary, you can avoid estimated tax payments by simply increasing your withholding. Do this by submitting a revised W-4 Form to your employer.
