Error Building Cache

A cache error usually indicates a problem with your TurboTax installation.

Solution

Follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall TurboTax.
  2. Find the TurboTax TYXX folder (where XX is the tax year; e.g., TY10).

Windows System

Folder Location

7 or Vista C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
XP or 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\TurboTax\TYxx
 

  1. Right-click the TYXX folder and select Delete. To confirm, click Yes (or OK).
    Note: If you can't to delete the folder, restart your computer in safe mode, and then repeat steps 2 and 3.
  2. Close browser windows and exit programs.
  3. Install TurboTax. If the problem persists, use your disk cleanup and defragment tools to free up space on your hard drive, then try installing again.
