Error 1921 when updating

Error 1921 occurs when attempting to update TurboTax. The complete error message reads:
Error 1921: Service 'Intuit Update Service' (IntuitUpdateService) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.
Possible Causes
Error 1921 may be caused by:
- Processes or background activities that are slowing your computer down; or
- A defect in Microsoft .NET that causes the Intuit Update Service to keep running.
Solutions
Try these solutions, in the order listed:
Solution 1
- Close TurboTax.
- From the Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel (or Settings, then Control Panel).
- In Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services. (Use Classic View in Vista.)
- Right-click Intuit Update Service and choose Stop.
- Reopen TurboTax and try updating again.
Solution 2
Close all open programs (including TurboTax), restart your computer, and then reopen TurboTax and try updating again.
Solution 3
- Go to the Windows Update site www.windowsupdate.com and check for updates.
- Download and install this update:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .Net Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847)
- Restart your computer if prompted to do so.
- Reopen TurboTax and try updating again.
