Payment and Refund Options for State Income Taxes

In addition to the customary paper check payment or refund method, your state Department of Revenue may offer:

Direct deposit of state tax refunds;
Direct debit of state taxes owed;
Credit card payment for state taxes owed;
Installment plans for owed state taxes that cannot be paid off by the due date.

The exact payment/refund options will vary by state and may only be available for certain types of returns, for example e-filed returns.
