Where do I enter my Pre-Paid Service Code in TurboTax Online?

A Pre-Paid Service Code is a unique number that gives the recipient a full or partial discount on the TurboTax Online fee.

Pre-Paid Service Codes are not online coupons; they are issued by TurboTax support agents on a case-by-case basis for specific, pre-determined reasons.

Once redeemed, Service Codes cannot be reused, and only one Pre-Paid Service Code can be entered per return.

Pre-Paid Service Codes are good for the entire tax season and generally expire on the final IRS filing deadline (usually October 15) unless an earlier date is specified.

Important: If your financial institution, employer, insurer, etc. offers you a discount on TurboTax Online products, you do not need a Pre-Paid Service Code (or any other kind of code) to redeem that discount. The discount is automatically applied as long as you start AND finish your TurboTax Online return at their special website (the website that your employer, etc., links you to from their marketing)  – NOT at turbotax.com, which charges the standard, undiscounted fee.

 

1. In TurboTax Online, click File on the left side of your screen.
2. Continue until you get to the Review Your Order screen (with the "shopping cart" icon).
3. At the bottom of the screen, click the blue I have a service code link.
4. Enter your code and then proceed with filing your return.

If TurboTax doesn't accept your code, double-check to make sure you're entering the correct number.

If you lose your code or if you get a message that it's already been redeemed, contact the issuer of the code for a possible replacement.
