Error: "Update Unavailable" or "PDF Service Unavailable" when attempting to view or file SnapTax return

When attempting to file your SnapTax return, you receive a message similar to:

Update Unavailable: Your updated numbers are temporarily unavailable. Continue working and we'll update your numbers later.

A related message may appear when attempting to view your SnapTax return: PDF Service Unavailable: Please try again later. We appreciate your patience.

Both messages are caused by special characters in your return.

Solution

To resolve this issue, click OK to close the error messages, and then remove any special characters in your return.

Special characters include accented letters like ñ, ö, í, é, and æ, as well as symbols such as #, $, &, and *.

After removing the special character(s), try filing or viewing your return again.
