Printing problems can be caused by just about anything. Here are some things you can try, starting with the simplest.
Check your printer
It sounds obvious, but first verify that your printer is plugged in, turned on, connected to the computer, and loaded with paper. Most printers will indicate they're ready to print with a green light or other small display.
- Try connecting a printer directly to the computer if you're unable to print via your network.
- Try printing from another program or file type, such as a text file, to see if the printer is working properly.
- Remove external devices that may interfere with your printer, such as CD drives, scanners, and switchboxes.
- Make sure the printer you're using is your default printer.
- Make sure your printer's drivers and Windows drivers are up-to-date.
- You might also try this method to change your Windows print driver.
- Turn off computer and printer for at least 15 seconds, then turn them back on.
