Printing a Review Copy of Your Return in TurboTax

It's always a good idea to review your tax return before filing. TurboTax gives you that option, no matter if you're e-filing or filing by mail.

Keep in mind there are a few steps you need to walk through in the TurboTax File area before you file. It's best to hold off until we ask if you want to review your return.

Are You E-filing?

As you go through the File area, you'll come to a screen titled Want To See a Preview Copy Before You E-file? That's where we give you the option to review and/or print your return.

When you get to this screen, click the Print Returns button, and then select Preview Print Copy in the new window. This opens your return in Adobe Reader, where you can either review the return on your screen, or print a copy if you'd rather review it on paper.

Important: If you're using TurboTax Online Basic or higher, and you haven't already paid the prep fee, you'll need to pay before you can print. For free versions, you'll just need to register before printing.

 

Are You Filing by Mail?

You'll be able to preview your return onscreen or after printing it out for mailing. How to print your return to file by mail.

Want to Print at Any Time?

You can print a preview copy of your return at any time, although we recommend holding off until we prompt you to.

  • TurboTax Online: Sign in to TurboTax Online and click Print Center in the upper right corner of the screen and follow the prompts to print a copy of your return. If you haven't already paid the preparation fee (or registered, if using a free version), you'll be asked to pay or register before you can print.
  • CD/Download software (Windows): Go back to TurboTax and click the Print Center icon in the upper right corner of your screen. Select Forms to review or keep for your records, and then click the Preview Print Copy button. 
  • CD/Download software (Mac): Go back to TurboTax and click the Save for Your Records link near the top of your screen.
