Error 146: Error saving or loading file

Error 146 occurs when opening or saving your tax return in TurboTax, if your tax file is damaged or corrupted.

Error 146: There was an error in saving or loading your file. We cannot open the file you selected. Please select a valid TurboTax file.

Next Steps

Unfortunately, damaged or corrupted tax files cannot be repaired.

If you saved a backup copy of your tax file, use the copy to complete your taxes. Make sure you save a copy of the backup copy, just in case.
If you didn't save a copy of your tax file, you'll have to start over with a new return.
