"Thank You" Letter May Reference a Refund or Balance Due Incorrectly when Amending

If you prepared a Form 1040X to amend your return and the changes that were made now reflect either a tax refund or a balance due, the "Thank You" letter that is printed may show the incorrect information.

The "Thank You" letter is a page in your printed return that starts with "We just want to thank you for using TurboTax this year!"

Example: When amending your return and the changes that were made now reflect a tax refund owed to you, the "Thank You" letter may show the amount as a balance due instead.

This is only a display issue on the printed form and the return can be mailed without issue.  Form 1040X, line 19 or line 21, reflects the correct tax refund or balance due as well as the tax summary included on the filing instructions page.
