Make a Backup Copy of Your TurboTax State Program

You can make a backup copy of the TurboTax State program you installed, so you can reinstall it in the future.
Windows
- Click on the Start button and then click the search button or the search field.
- Search for the folder which uses the XXY_12 name format (read below for details)
- XX represents the 2-letter state abbreviation (CA for California, NY for New York, OH for Ohio, etc.)
- Y represents the 1-letter type abbreviation:
- I is for Individual (personal) returns
- C is for Corporation returns
- S is for S-Corporation returns
- P is for Partnership returns
- F is for Fiduciary (trust and estate) returns
- _12 represents the year
- Search for the folder which uses the XXY_12 name format (read below for details)
- Once you've found it, copy the folder to your storage device, such as a CD or flash drive.
- To reinstall from the backup, note the original location of the folder, and copy it back to your hard drive in the same place.
Macintosh
- Use Spotlight Search to locate TurboTax [State] 2010 Installer (replacing [State] with the state name) on your Mac.
- Copy the file to a storage device, such as a CD or flash drive. Note: The Installer is saved to your hard drive after you download your state program.
