What should I do with Form 5498? Why can't I find it in TurboTax?

Form 5498: IRA Contributions Information reports your IRA contributions to the IRS. Your IRA trustee or issuer – not you – is required to file this form with the IRS by May 31.

You won't find this form in TurboTax, nor do you file it with your tax return. The copy you receive in the mail is a copy for your records. (If you don't believe us, look at the bottom of your form; it should say Keep For Your Records or similar.)

Reminder

Make sure that you entered your IRA contribution in TurboTax. Your IRA trustee or issuer should have already sent you Form 1099-R or a year-end statement, which contains the necessary information you'll need to enter your IRA contribution. More info about Forms 1099-R and 5498 are available at the IRS website.
