Marriage Credit on MN State Tax Return Understated

We have identified an error with the MN state product that involves the Marriage Credit (M1MA). The result of this error, if impacted, is that your credit is understated between $10 and $50.

This would not impact your federal return and would only impact your MN state return if filed before March 12, 2013.

We have fixed this error as of Monday 3/11.

Are you impacted?

  • The issue will occur in a Married Filing Joint return if both you and your spouse have earned income, and the lowest income of either of you was at least $88,000 (no less and not a total of both).
  • In this case, the tax rate schedule reflected tax year 2011 rates instead of tax year 2012 rates and the marriage credit total is therefore understated by about $10 to $50, depending on the your income.

Okay, this impacts my return. What do I need to do?
