Federal 2010: For Certain Customers Who Receive EIC and Workfare Payments

Customers who received workfare payments and qualified for an earned Income credit may have an incorrect tax return.

TurboTax has fixed this issue.

How to tell if you are impacted

You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:

  • You filed a 2010 federal return prior to April 17, 2011; AND
  • You received workfare payments in 2010; AND
  • In TurboTax, you entered the amount for those payments; AND
  • You received an Earned Income Credit on your tax return (check your Form 1040EZ, line 9a – Form 1040A, line 41a – or Form 1040, line 64a.)

If you are affected, you may have overpaid or underpaid your federal tax and you will need to amend your federal tax return. If your state return is also be affected, you will need to amend it as well.
