Oregon 2010: Federal Government Pension Exclusion May be Incorrect for Certain Customers

Certain customers, who receive a federal government pension and filed as a part-year resident, may have an incorrect Oregon return.

This issue has been fixed.

How to tell if you are impacted

You are affected if ALL of the following are true:

  • You filed your 2010 Oregon part-year resident tax return prior to January 31, 2011 AND
  • You received a federal government pension AND
  • You had date of service for that pension prior to 1991.

If you meet the criteria, your pension exclusion was understated and you overpaid your Oregon taxes. If so, you need to amend your Oregon tax return.
