Missouri 2011: Railroad Retirement Benefit Distributions

You may be affected if ALL of the following are true:

1. You filed a 2011 Missouri tax return before February 18, 2012 AND
2. You received a Form RRB-1099-R, and had an amount in Box 3 “Employee Contributions” AND
3. TurboTax elected to use the “Simplified Method” to calculate the taxable portion of your Railroad Retirement Benefit distribution AND
4. Your Missouri Form MO-A Individual Income Tax Adjustments, Line 9 “Railroad retirement benefits” box is marked with an “X” AND
5. You had an amount on your Form RRB-1099-R, Line 7 that is EQUAL to the railroad retirement benefit amount on your Missouri Form MO-A, Line 9d, Column Y or S.

If you are affected, you may have underpaid your Missouri tax. You may need to amend your Missouri tax return.
