You can deduct transportation as a medical expense when necessary for medical care including:
- Bus, taxi, plane, car and ambulance fees;
- Costs of a parent going with a child for medical care;
- Person giving treatments to someone that can’t travel alone for care; and
- Costs for visiting a mentally ill dependent when ordered as part of treatment.
