You can deduct insurance premiums paid for necessary medical care including medical professionals, hospitalization, surgery, X-rays, lab work, prescription drugs, dental or vision care and qualified long-term care contracts for yourself, your spouse and dependents. Premiums paid pre-tax through flexible spending accounts are not deductible.
