Can I deduct medical expenses I paid for someone else?

You can deduct medical fees for non-dependents in these cases:
- Your child under the divorced/separated parents rule;
- A dependent who couldn't be claimed as such because their income is too high or they filed jointly;
- Someone claimed under a multiple support agreement; or
- Someone who would’ve been your dependent except for the fact that you or your spouse were claimed as dependent.
