Are medical expenses for future care deductible?

Generally, you cannot claim as current year medical expenses costs you pay for future medical care.

Exceptions to this rule are nonrefundable advance payments for Lifetime Care and for future care, treatment or training of a disabled dependent when you’re unable to provide care or die. If the requirements for the advanced payments are met, these are deductible medical expenses in the year paid.
