What is Form 1099-LTC?
You'll receive a Form 1099-LTC (Long Term Care Contract Distributions) if you received taxable distributions from your:
- Long-term insurance, or
- Life insurance under an accelerated death benefits clause because you're critically or terminally ill.
Long-Term Care Contracts are arrangements designed to provide insurance that will meet your health care needs, should you become chronically ill or disabled after reaching a certain age.
How do I Enter Form 1099-LTC?
Here's how to get to the 1099-LTC screens in TurboTax Online:
- Select the Tools button in the upper right-hand portion of the screen.
- Select Topics & Forms.
- When the window opens, type "1099-ltc" into the box, select the item that best describes the 1099-LTC that you received, and then select Go.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the information from your 1099-LTC.
Here's how to get to the 1099-LTC screens in TurboTax Desktop or CD/Download:
- Enter your cursor into the search box in the upper right-hand portion of the screen.
- Type "1099-ltc" into the box, select the item that best describes the 1099-LTC that you received, and then select Go.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the information from your 1099-LTC.
