Error 5100 when installing TurboTax 2009 on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system

This error normally occurs on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems that have the .NET Framework option turned off.

Solution

To resolve this issue:

Click on Start > Control Panel.
Click on Programs and select Turn Windows features on or off, located under Programs and Features.
In the Turn Windows features on or off window and verify the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 checkbox is selected. If it is not, select it.
Click the OK button.
Restart the computer.
Install TurboTax 2009.
