Resolved:$21,474,836 appears on Form 8949; Schedule D calculates net gain/loss of 0

Several customers have reported an incorrectly-calculated amount of $21,474,836 was appearing in the Form 8949, Line 2 totals.

In addition, the incorrect $21,474,836 amount would appear in both columns (d) and (e) on the Schedule D, resulting in a net gain or loss of 0.

Explanation

When the totals of columns d (Proceeds) and e (Cost basis) on Form 8949 equal or exceed $10,000,000 (ten million dollars), the erroneous value of $21,474,836 was calculated.

An update was released on 3/14/2013 that corrects the calculation of columns (d) and (e) on the Schedule D.

This update does not change limitations in other areas of the program due to Large Number Calculations: The program does not handle the rare event of the entry of numbers greater than $9,999,999.99 or intermediate calculations that require more than 9 digits
