About Interest and Dividend Income

This is income that's usually reported on Forms 1099-INT (interest) and 1099-DIV (dividends). You can also find interest and dividend income on a consolidated broker's or financial institution statement.

Interest income is money paid to you from interest-rate earnings from investments such as bank accounts, mutual funds, and companies you own stock in.

Dividend income is money paid to you due to a surplus, benefit, or bonus on investments, such as bank accounts, mutual funds, and companies you own stock in.
