Error 20888 xxxxx (where xxxxx is a number, e.g. 39771) occurs when opening TurboTax

Important: Do not follow the steps below if you use Windows 7 or Vista. Instead, please contact us.

Solution (Windows XP only)

Try the following solutions, in the order listed, until the problem is resolved.

Reinstall TurboTax.
Repair the .NET Framework.
Reinstall the .NET Framework.
Install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 (if you haven't already done so).
