Turn Virus Detection Off/On

If you're having trouble installing TurboTax, you can temporarily disable (turn off) your virus detection software. After installing TurboTax, remember to re-enable it by turning it back on.

Follow these steps:

1. (Recommended) Close all programs that access the Internet or access files from the Internet, including e-mail.
2. Locate your virus detection program's icon in your system tray, located in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
3. Right-click the icon, and then select Disable to turn it off.
4. Once you have successfully installed TurboTax, repeat step 3, except this time select Enable to turn your virus-protection back on.
